    Inca Jungle Trail

    There are several ways to reach the world-famous Machu Picchu. One of these is the classic Inca Trail–tagged as the direct path to the ancient Inca citadel.

    Highlights of a multiple-day Inca Jungle Trail Tour:

    • Downhill extreme mountain biking at the Abra Malaga Pass
    • River Rafting in Santa Maria
    • Hiking ancient paths with views of plantations of bananas, coca, yucca, and coffee
    • Ziplining across four different ziplines and traversing a suspension bridge

    Destinations:

    Abra Malaga Pass – site of downhill biking adventure en route to Santa Maria; situated 4,350 meters above sea level.

    Huamanmarca – tagged as the entrance to the Cusco jungle; archeological site with ruins of retaining walls and double-walled structures hewn out of rock similar to those found in other archeological sites.

    Vilcabamba – called the “Lost City of the Incas” and tagged as the last refuge of the Incas; was believed to be the hideaway of the last Inca governors during the Spanish invasion of 1529.

    Quellomayo – a small sleepy town in Santa Maria district where travelers usually stop over for rest and meals.

    Cocalmayo – known for its thermal baths or natural hot springs.

    Machu Picchu – the most famous and iconic ruins of Peru where you can explore various chambers of this ancient citadel including the Royal Tomb, Temple of Three Windows, Temple of the Sun, the Condor Temple, the Intihuatana or sundial rock, the main plaza, and so much more.
