    Cusco City Tour

Kick off your Cusco adventure with our highly recommended classic Cusco City Tour!

The wonders of this captivating region begins right at the heart of the city, and the perfect starting point of your adventure is the historic central square–Plaza de Armas–surrounded by colonial architecture such as the enthralling Cathedral of Cusco and the Church of the Company of Jesus.

From the city square, walk over to 12 Angled Stone Street where you will find an archeological artifact called 12-angled stone that was part of the stone wall of an Inca palace. Stones seamlessly fit together, highlighting the genius engineering of the ancient Incas.

Walk further to the cobblestones of Loreto Street and discover more excellent examples of Inca architecture, including traditional houses and artisan shops.

Admire the fusion of Inca and colonial architecture of the Qoricancha (The Golden Temple), which was once an ancient religious structure dedicated to the sun god. Currently, it houses the Convent of Santo Domingo.

No Cusco City tour is complete without a leisurely stroll within the Cusco city market, a bustling hub of Andean flavors, aromas, and bold colors. Sample peculiar local delicacies or shop for handmade crafts and souvenirs. There’s nothing like experiencing the vibrant energy of this authentic Peruvian market.

A walking tour of Cusco City usually lasts approximately four hours. Most full-day city tours extend to a full day with visits to the famous four ruins closely surrounding Cusco.

Just on the city outskirts is Sacsayhuaman, an imposing Inca fortress with colossal stone walls displaying the architectural brilliance of the Incas. It’s also a great vantage point to enjoy panoramic views of Cusco.

Another archeological site close by is Q’enqo, known for its underground chambers and fascinating carved stone structures that offer insight into the spiritual practices of the Inca civilization.

Puka Pukara, also called the Red Fort or Fortress, is a strategic site that once served as the Inca’s military outpost.

And a guided tour of Tambomachay (the Inca baths) through its aqueducts, canals, and water fountains will definitely amaze you.

Not to be left out of the list is the Cristo Blanco–the most famous statue towering over the city, providing a peaceful retreat and a perfect vantage point to reflect on the day’s discoveries.

Just imagine all these intriguing places brimming with history and mystery waiting for you to explore them!
