7 Lagoons of Ausangate Full Day

    7 Lagoons of Ausangate

This is a mini Ausangate trek in one day that gives you not one but seven stunning lakes or lagoons plus breathtaking views of several mountains!

    Why do this tour?

The 7 Lagoons of Ausangate Full Day Tour is an adventure-filled day packed with stunning views of different landscapes, the “Apus” mountains, encounters with alpacas, llamas, vizcachas, and even chinchillas and condors; and best of all, the seven lakes with their turquoise, blue, green, and even reddish colors.

Starting from the jump-off point in Pacchanta, it’s an amazingly picturesque 5-hour hike to these lagoons located on the slopes of the Vilcanota Mountain Range:

    • Otorongo Macho
    • Otorongo Hembra
    • Puka Cocha
    • Alka Cocha
    • Q’omer Cocha (Green Lake in Quechua)
    • Azul Cocha
    • Pata Cocha

The color of each lake changes as a result of the melting waters washing up all or some of the pulverized minerals in the area. These minerals end up deposited in the lake waters. However, unlike other sediments, these don’t sink. They just stay close to the water’s surface, thus creating this unique set of visuals rarely found anywhere in the world.

And if these lakes aren’t enough of a natural wonder, gape at the majestic peaks of the Ausangate, Pucapunta, Mariposa, Jampa, Pucapunta, Tinke, and the Mountain range of Qayangate.

Finally, after a full day’s hike, what better to do than rejuvenate and unwind in the hot springs of Pacchanta, followed by a savory buffet meal?
